Large Weller Turada Bowl with reticulated medallions, bottom marked
Spectacular,heavy and massive Weller Turada Bowl, with great squeeze bag and raised reticulated medallion artwork.
This piece is glazed in a deep brown glaze and is 11.25” Wide, 3.5” Tall.
Its bottom marks include the Weller Turada half circle and the mold # “857”.
Due to manufacturing difficulties and the high costs of labor, production of Turada Line with raised medallions appears to have been stopped approximately at or just prior to 1900.
As such, pieces like this are rarely encountered, especially with all four medallion intact.
This medallion pattern is more often seen in the similar J.B. Owens Cyrano Line.
There is minor glaze abrasions to a very small portion of one of the raised medallion and a possible older professional repair.
Given these issues, this piece is still sold “as is”.
I need to make room in my collection storage area and this piece of pottery is priced to sell.
I have 30+ years of experience with American Art Pottery and shipping it across the U.S.
I use plenty of bubble wrap and Styrofoam peanuts during packing to ensure each item arrives in the same condition I shipped it.
